I have been working in hair industry for over 20 years, and I still love the buzz I get from seeing someone leave the salon looking amazing.
During my time as a hairdresser, the services we offer have become much more personalized. Rather than just a few styles or colouring treatments to choose between, you are now able to select the perfect style or colour option to suit your lifestyle.Fundamentally though, it’s about putting my clients at ease and I hope my salon reflects this ethos. I want my clients to be themselves when visiting the salon. Lots of my clients have been with me for years, they tell their friends and that’s how the business grows.
I just know how someone is feeling as soon as they walk through the salon door; they don’t need to tell me that they’ve had a bad day at work, I know, and it makes me feel great when they leave relaxed and with a big smile on their face!
I was delighted that the salon was nominated for an England’s Business Award 2022 in the Best Hair Salon category. We still don’t know who nominated us, but we’re grateful that they did, because it means the salon is being recognized and valued by the community.
I have been hairdressing for around 10 years, after having sort of fallen into the industry on returning from travel. Creative colouring is my specialty, whether that’s bright colours or balayage using ombre techniques. I have coloured hair every colour of the rainbow over the years! I love dedicating the time needed, to talk to the client, and then develop the colour they want. It builds a special rapport with that person.
Many of my clients have been with me a long time. They always say that they value my honesty. I’m going to speak up and and tell them if I don’t think something will suit them. They are friends to me and I want them to look good.
People come to the salon because of our inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. We want everyone to feel welcome and include everyone in the conversations.
I always say to my clients that I don’t want them coming into the salon looking like a Kardashian, I want them to leave looking like one! You know how it is, people come in feeling a bit drab and down, and leave feeling fresher and with a big smile.
